Cherupayar Curry/Moong Dal Curry-Home Style
Cherupayar curry and puttu is a common kerala breakfast recipe. This is also a protein rich curry for dinner along with chapathi,roti etc.This is normally prepared with the green moong dal, which is highly nutritious.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1/4 cup Moong dal/green gram soak over night
- 1 cup Coconut
- 3 Green chilly
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Red chilly powder
- Curry leaves little
- Salt, to taste
- Water, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Pressure cook the moong dal with turmeric powder,chily powder,green chilly,salt and water as needed for 4-5 whistles.
Step 2
Grind grated coconut with little water and add into the cooked curry.
Step 3
Add curry leaves,Stir everything together thoroughly and allow to Let it cook for 2 minutes.before it starts to boil turn off the heat.
Step 4
Now your delicious cherupayar curry is ready to serve.
Tip
Taste the gravy before adding the main ingredient. It should be well-seasoned and balanced on its own — the protein or vegetable will dilute it slightly.
