Chakka Thoran
Simple, honest, and on every Kerala lunch plate — jackfruit thoran is coconut oil, grated coconut, and a handful of spices working quietly together. No fuss, just good food.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 2 cup Jackfruit — chopped
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 3 nos Dry red chillies
- 2 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing chakka thoran, first heat oil and let the mustard seeds crackle.
Step 2
Crush coconut, chillies and coriander.
Step 3
Cook jackfruit with salt and turmeric powder.
Step 4
Add coconut into pan.
Step 5
Add cooked jackfruit and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 6
Chakka thoran is ready.
Tip
The pan should be completely dry when you finish — no moisture should remain. That dryness is what gives thoran its characteristic texture.
