Chakka Kuru Payasam|Jackfruit Seed Kheer
Chakkakuru Payasam / Jackfruit Seed Kheer is a payasam using the seeds of the ripe Jackfruit with dal or parippu.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 30 nos Jackfruit seed
- 200 g Jaggery
- 11/2 cup Thin coconut milk
- 1 cup Thick coconut milk
- Water, to taste
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
- Salt Pinch
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- 2 tbsp Coconut pieces
- 3 nos Shallots — chopped
Preparation
Step 1
Pressure cook jackfruit seeds for 3-4 whistles with little water.Then drain the water and take out the skin of jack fruit seeds. No need to remove the brown skin.
Step 2
Grind the cooked Jackfruit seeds with 1/2 cup water into a coarse paste.
Step 3
Convert it into a pan or kadai.
Step 4
Pour thin Coconut milk and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 5
Melt jaggery in 1/2 cup water.pour the syrup through a strainer to remove all the impurities and set aside.
Step 6
Pour melted jaggery,cardamom powder and salt.Switch on the flame and Stir continuously till get a semithick consistency.
Step 7
When it starts thick pour thick coconut milk and Stir everything together thoroughly.take it off the heat.
Step 8
Heat ghee in a pan and fry the coconut bits shallots and raisins.
Step 9
Add to the Kheer and Fold everything together gently.
Step 10
Then serve Chakkakuru Payasam hot or warm or chilled. Leftover payasam can be refrigerated and served later.
Tip
The payasam will thicken significantly as it cools. Stop cooking when it is still slightly thinner than your target consistency.
