Cashew Nut Halwa
A traditional Kerala sweet that balances richness with restraint. Made with jaggery, coconut, and a careful hand, the sweetness is warm rather than overwhelming — the kind of flavour that lingers.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 1/2 kg Cashew
- 1/2 litre Milk
- 1/2 kg Sugar
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- 1 tsp Cardamom powder
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing cashew halwa, boil milk and soak the cashew nuts for about 30 minutes.
Step 2
Grind the cashew into fine paste.
Step 3
In a thick pan pour the ground cashew paste and cook.
Step 4
Stir constantly, adding ghee. 5)Add cardamom powder and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 5
Take it off the heat. when the mixture becomes a smooth lump. 7)Transfer the contents on to a greased plate and spread evenly.
Step 6
After 5 minutes cut pieces out of it.
Step 7
Cashew halwa, Sweet dish is ready.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
