Capsicum Sandwich
A traditional preparation from Kerala that balances flavour, texture, and aroma in the way that only home cooking can. No two households make it exactly the same, and that is the point.
Ingredientsfor 1 servings
- 5 slice Bread
- 1 nos Tomato — finely chopped
- 1/2 tbsp Chilly powder
- 1 nos Onion — finely chopped
- 1/2 Of Capsicum — finely chopped
- Oil, to taste
- Mustard, to taste
- 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)
- 100 g Salted butter
Preparation
Step 1
Warm the oil in a pan and season with mustard and cumin seeds.
Step 2
When mustard bursts, put onion and fry for 1 minute.
Step 3
Add tomato and fry for half a minute.
Step 4
Add chilly powder and fry. Add capsicum and fry for half minute.
Step 5
Season with salt. Stuffing is ready.
Step 6
Apply salted butter on one side of bread. In between two bread slices, spread the stuffing and press nicely.
Step 7
Get care so that stuffing never spills out of bread.
Step 8
Heat dosa tawa and spread butter. Place the sandwich and fry till brown. Serve it hot.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
