Bread And Biscuit Sweet
A traditional Kerala sweet that balances richness with restraint. Made with jaggery, coconut, and a careful hand, the sweetness is warm rather than overwhelming — the kind of flavour that lingers.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 5 nos Bread slices
- 10 nos Biscuits Arrowroot preferred
- 1/2 litre Milk
- 1 cup Sugar
- Cashew and pista — for garnishing
- Oil — for deep frying
- 1 tsp Ghee
Preparation
Step 1
Fry in hot oil the bread slices in oil and set aside.
Step 2
Put the biscuits in mixie and grind it to a fine powder.
Step 3
Grind the fried bread slices too to a fine powder.
Step 4
Heat milk in a kadai.
Step 5
When it starts boiling, add sugar and stir finely.
Step 6
Let it bubble for about 10 minutes.
Step 7
After that, add the powdered mixture of biscuits and bread and stir continously so that no lumps are found.
Step 8
When it comes to a halwa consistency, add ghee to it.
Step 9
Place it in a oil greased plate.
Step 10
Garnish with fried cashews and pista.
Step 11
Cut it into desired shape after it becomes cool.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
