Beef Vindhalu
A tasty blend of cooked beef pieces in fiery red hot spicy gravy with a unique tempting flavor of crushed mustard. Beef Vindhalu dish has its roots among the Anglo Indian families and now it has gained a striking popularity in Kerala Cuisine.
Ingredientsfor 7 servings
- 1 kg Beef small pieces
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 11/2 tsp Chilly powder
- Salt, to taste
- 11/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 6 nos Green Chillies
- 15 nos Garlic
- 1 large Ginger
- 4 tsp Vinegar
- 4 tsp Mustard seeds
- Onion(sliced
Preparation
Step 1
Clean the beef and chop into small pieces. Set aside.
Step 2
Make a smooth paste with the ingredients: turmeric powder, chilly powder, salt, pepper powder, green chillies, garlic, ginger, vinegar and mustard seeds.
Step 3
Marinate beef with the above prepared paste and leave aside for a few minutes.
Step 4
Put the pan on stove, heat oil and allow to allow to crackle the mustard seeds. Add onion and ground green chillies.
Step 5
When onion becomes brownish, add beef. Add little water and allow to cook in a pressure cooker until done. This is not a gravy curry.
Tip
The coconut pieces should get slightly crispy along with the beef. They add a textural contrast that makes the dish.
