Beef Mulakittathu
Cooked low and slow until the masala melds into the gravy, this beef curry carries the unmistakable warmth of Kerala spices — black pepper, curry leaves, and coconut. Pair it with steaming rice and a crisp pappadam.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 200 g Beef
- 1½ nos Tomato
- 2 nos Green chilly
- 1/2 inch Ginger
- 1 Whole Garlic
- 8 nos Shallots
- 2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- Garam masala A pinch
- Salt, to taste
- Water, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Heat the oil in a cooker and add shallots, ginger, garlic and Let it cook for 3 minutes.
Step 2
Add tomato, green chilly and Continue cooking for 3 to 5 minutes.
Step 3
Add chilly powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt to taste.
Step 4
Add 1½ cups of water.
Step 5
Add the beef. Cover and Continue cooking for 10 to 15 minutes till done.
Tip
Thin strips cook faster and develop more crispy surface area than thick cubes. Cut against the grain for tenderness.
