Tapioca With Sauteed Onions
Tapioca with Sautéed Onions is a different style of dish preared with tapioca and onions. This is a perfect side dish for, rotis, chappathis even with rice. This is a simple curry where in the boiled tapioca is sauted with spices and onions.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- ¼ kg Tapioca
- 2 Onions — finely sliced
- ½ tsp Mustard seeds
- 2-3 Whole red chilies
- 2-3 tbsp Coconut oil
- Salt
Preparation
Step 1
Remove the tapioca skin and cut into thin long slices.
Step 2
Boil in a pan with water for 15 minutes and drain off the water.
Step 3
Warm coconut oil in a kadai and when the coconut oil is hot add the mustard seeds.
Step 4
When it has allow to crackleed and the whole red chilies cut into pieces.
Step 5
Add the sliced onions and cook until they turn pink in color.
Step 6
Stir in the par boiled tapioca and ½ cup water and salt.
Step 7
Cover the pan and Let it cook for 15 minutes till the water has dried up.
Step 8
The Tapioca with Sautéed Onions is ready to serve.
Step 9
Tapioca with Sautéed Onions can be served with roti or along with rice and dal/curry as an accompaniment.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
