Soya Chunks Roast
A healthy stir fry that goes well with rice based dishes and with almost anything. This is a nutritious dish that can be easily prepared when time is short.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1 cup Soya chunks
- 2 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Red chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Chicken Masala powder — optional
- 1 nos Onion big — chopped
- 1 nos Tomato small — chopped
- 1/2 tsp Garlic — chopped
- 1/2 tsp Ginger — chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing, wash soya chunks, then soak in hot water for 1/2 an hour. Squeeze off all water well.
Step 2
Pressure cook the soaked soya chunks with water and salt for 1-2 whistles and set aside.
Step 3
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil, add onion, little salt and and cook until onions turn lightly browned.
Step 4
Stir in ginger and garlic and cook well.
Step 5
Add tomato and fry till tomatoes are done.
Step 6
Add all powders and fry at low heat till raw smell goes.
Step 7
Finally add cooked soya chunks into above masala mix and Stir everything together thoroughly. Sprinkle little water, close the lid and Continue cooking for 5 to 10 minutes at low heat.
Step 8
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Tip
Coconut oil is not optional in a Kerala fry. It adds a flavour that no other oil can replicate.
