Sooji (Rava) Vegetable Uppuma

Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- Sooji (Rava) : 2 Cups
- Green Peas : ½ cup
- Curry leaves, to taste
- Ginger : 1 medium size (cut into small pieces
- Carrot : 2 nos. (remove skin and — cut into small pieces)
- Onion : 1 no. (remove skin and — cut into small pieces)
- Green Chilli : 3 nos. (cut into small pieces
- Mustard seeds : 2 tsp
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Heat the oil in a Kadai (Cheenachatti) in medium flame.
Step 2
Add mustard seeds in the hot oil and let it to burst and then add cut green chilli and ginger.
Step 3
Add the onion.
Step 4
Add carrot pieces also.
Step 5
Add green peas.
Step 6
Add curry leaves also.
Step 7
Stir the mix for 2 - 3 minutes.
Step 8
When the colour of the mix turns into brown, add water and salt and allow to boil it for 5 – 10 minutes.
Step 9
When the mix boils well, add sooji and stir it further and after 5 -10 minutes, put the stove off and remove the kadai from stove.

Sooji vegetable uppuma is ready and can be served with banana or chutney or sugar.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
