Pulipachadi - Brahmin Special
Ladies finger, red chilly, grated coconut and other ingredients are combined together to make pachadi.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 100 g Ladies finger
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 1 nos Red chilly
- 3 nos Green chillies
- 2 tsp White gingelly Velutha ellu
- 1 piece Jaggery
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- Urad dal Few, Ulundu parippu
- Asafoetida A pinch (Kayam)
- Tamarind Size of a gooseberry
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tsp Coconut oil
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing pulipachadi - brahmin special, soak tamarind in water and squeeze the juice.
Step 2
Cut ladies finger into slices and boil it in tamarind water. Add turmeric powder and salt.
Step 3
Roast gingelly. Then grind the grated coconut with green chillies and roasted gingelly with sufficient quantity of water.
Step 4
Add the ground mixture to the second step(ladies finger) and boil for few minutes.
Step 5
Add jaggery and asafoetida.
Step 6
Fry mustard seeds, urad dal and red chilly in coconut oil.
Step 7
Add this fried mixture to the fourth step. Pulipachadi - brahmin special, is ready.
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
