Prawns With Mango
Fresh prawn cooked the Kerala way — with coconut, curry leaves, and a tartness that comes from kudampuli or tamarind. Coastal Kerala cooking at its simplest and best.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 200 g Prawns
- 2 nos Onion — chopped
- 1 cup Coconut grated and — ground
- 1 nos Raw mango — chopped
- 2 nos Tomato — chopped
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander powder
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing prawns with mango, Heat the oil in a clay pot. let the mustard seeds crackle and curry leaves.
Step 2
Add onion, tomato and ginger-garlic paste.
Step 3
When oil comes out, add turmeric, chilly powder and coriander powder.
Step 4
Add salt and mango pieces.
Step 5
Add little water and cook mangoes. Add ground coconut. When half done, add prawns and cook it.
Step 6
Prawns with mango is ready.
Tip
A clay pot gives fish curry a distinctive taste that metal pans cannot replicate. If you have a manchatti, use it.
