Mixed Veg Puzhukk
A recipe prepared with banana stem,tapioca,raw pappaya and raw banana.It is one of my favourites and like this best taken with rice.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 500 g Banana stem
- 2 Raw banana
- 1 small Raw pappaya
- 1/2 kg Tapioca
- 2 Mackerel
- 1/2 Pc,grated Coconut
- 3 Shallots
- 3 Garlic
- 2 Green chilly
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seed
- 1/2 tsp Red chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Curry leaves little
- Salt, to taste
- Water, to taste

Step 2
Cook tapioca in water with salt and 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and set aside.
Step 3
Cook banana stem,raw pappaya,raw banana,mackerel, with turmeric powder,chilly powder,salt and water as needed.
Step 4
Grind grated coconut,shallots,garlic,cumin,green chilly with little water to make a smooth paste.
Step 5
Mix the cococnut paste with cooked veggies.add cooked tapioca,curry leaves and cook again for 2 minutes.mash it with a spoon.
Step 6
Mixed veg puzhukk is ready to serve.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
