Minced Beef Masala
Beef cooked the Kerala way — with patience, a heavy hand of spices, and enough coconut oil to make the purists happy. The meat is slow-cooked until it is tender enough to fall apart, then finished with intensity.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 200 g Beef
- 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
- Salt, to taste
- 3 nos Onion — sliced
- 2 nos Green chillies — chopped
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp Garam masala
- Curry leaves & coriander leaves, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing beef masala, cook sliced beef with 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp chilly powder, 3/4 cup water and salt to taste. Mince the beef and set aside.
Step 2
Cook onion and green chillies in coconut oil.
Step 3
When the onion turns lightly browned, add the turmeric powder, chilly powder, salt and fry well.
Step 4
Add the sliced leaves and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 5
Add the minced beef to it and mix it well in low flame.
Step 6
Take it off the heat.
Step 7
Tip: 1)You can use this masala as a stuffing for chappathies, pathiri, samosa, sandwitch, pizza, stuffed buns or anything according to your taste and creativity.
Tip
The coconut pieces should get slightly crispy along with the beef. They add a textural contrast that makes the dish.
