Kollam Meen Curry
This fish curry is best served for breakfast with Appam, Idiyappam, Pathiri etc. A kollam fish curry is different from other fish curries.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 500 g Ayila meen
- 5 small Onion
- 2 Green chilli
- 2 Tablespoon Coconut oil
- 1 Teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 Tablespoon Chilli powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Corriander powder
- Curry leaves
- 1 Teaspoon Kaduku (uluva)
- Ginger garlic — chopped
- Tamarind Lemon shaped ball
- Salt for taste
Preparation
Step 1
Add oil in a pan and add green chillies, curry leaves, small onions and cook it, stirring well.
Step 2
Next, add chilli powder, coriander powder, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder and cook it, stirring well.
Step 3
Stir in the tamarind water and let it boil and then add fish.
Step 4
Cook in medium flame till the oil seperates.
Step 5
Now the meen curry is ready.
Tip
Coconut oil and curry leaves at the very end, off the heat, give the curry its characteristic Kerala aroma. Never skip this final step.
