Easy Beef Biriyani | Quick Beef Biriyani
The rich flavors of Easy Beef Biriyani! A quick, one-pot Kerala-style beef biriyani that’s perfect for a hearty meal.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 1 kg Beef
- 2 cup Basmati rice or Khaima rice Washed and — soaked in water for 10 mins and drained well
- 3 nos Onions — chopped
- 1 inch Ginger — coarsely ground
- 8 Cloves Garlic — coarsely ground
- 8 nos Green chillies — coarsely ground
- 4 nos Tomatoes — finely chopped
- Coriander leaves Handful
- Mint leaves Handful
- 1 inch Piece Cinnamon
- 2 nos Cloves
- 2 nos Cardamom
- 3 tbsp Oil and ghee mixed together
- Salt, to taste
- 4 cup Water Boil and keep
- 2 tsp Garam Masala powder
Preparation
Step 1
Cut beef into medium sized pieces and cook in a pressure cooker with garam masala powder - 2 tsp (prepare a mixture of 3 cloves, 1/2 inch cinnamon, cardamom 2 nos, fennel seeds(saunf) 1 tbsp, 5 corns pepper and 1 tsp cumin seeds), chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and one spoon ginger-garlic paste. Dry roast the raw garam masala and powder it. Place cooked beef aside. Meanwhile heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and lightly fry the rice.
Step 2
In a pressure cooker heat oil and add the whole spices(cinnamon, cloves and cardamom).
Step 3
Add the coarsely ground ginger, garlic and green chillies. Fry for a minute. Add the chopped onions and cook until the raw smell disappears.
Step 4
Add the tomatoes chopped and after two minutes add the cooked beef.
Step 5
Add 4 cups of boiling water to this and the chopped coriander and mint leaves.
Step 6
Add required salt and put the lightly fried rice into this boiling mix. Close the pressure cooker and cook for exactly 5 minutes with the weight kept on it. Turn off the heat and open the cooker only after 10 minutes.
Step 7
Check for salt and add salt water if needed. give it a good stir.
Step 8
Serve Easy Beef Biriyani with raitha and pappad.
Tip
Pressure cooking first saves time, but do not skip the dry-roasting step after — that is where the Kerala beef fry gets its signature dark, caramelised crust.
