Deep Fried Fish - Kerala Style
Fresh fish cooked the Kerala way — with coconut, curry leaves, and a tartness that comes from kudampuli or tamarind. Coastal Kerala cooking at its simplest and best.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 500 g Seer Fish/King Fish
- 2 tbsp Red Chilly powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- Ginger Garlic paste - 1/2 tbsp
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Marinate the fish in a mixture of ingredients: chilly powder, turmeric, pepper, ginger-garlic paste,salt for 20 to 30 minutes.
Step 2
Warm the oil in a pan and pan-fry the fish pieces on both sides till it is brown in colour.
Step 3
Deep fried fish in kerala style is ready.
Tip
A clay pot gives fish curry a distinctive taste that metal pans cannot replicate. If you have a manchatti, use it.
