Cabbage Egg Thoran
Simple, honest, and on every Kerala lunch plate — egg thoran is coconut oil, grated coconut, and a handful of spices working quietly together. No fuss, just good food.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- Cabbage 500 gm
- Eggs 2 nos
- Salt, to taste
- Chilly powder 1 tea spoon
- Coriander powder 1 tea spoon
- Onion 1 big
- Oil 1 table spoon
Preparation
Step 1
Wash properly and chop finely the cabbage and onion. Add chilly powder, coriander powder and salt to this and mix properly and set aside Put a kadai on flame and pour the oil into this. Pour the oil and when hot put the cabbage mixture and stir properly. After about five minutes, when the cabbage is almost cooked, break the eggs and pour into this with constant stirring. Switdh off the flame when done (similar to egg burgie). Serve hot.
Tip
Grated coconut goes in last and cooks just long enough to warm through. Overcooking makes it chewy instead of soft.
