Areeram
This is a nadan snack sweet variety. This is prepared with rice flour and jaggery. As jaggery is used, it is good for health.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 250 g Rice flour
- 200 g Jaggery
- Salt, to taste
- 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Melt jaggery with water as needed.
Step 2
Mix rice flour with melted jaggery, cumin and salt to make smooth dough.
Step 3
Make small balls out of it.
Step 4
Heat the oil in a vessel and fry it till brown color.
Step 5
Serve it.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
